Ex Convento di Santa Maria del Gesù

The church of Santa Maria del Gesù (1478-1481) and the adjoining convent (1478-1520) are among the rarest and most important late Gothic architecture in Sicily. They belonged to the Franciscan Friars Minor. It preserves a magnificent cloister with two orders in late Gothic style, with small columns variously decorated and each one different. It is unique in all of southern Italy, with stylistic comparisons surviving only in Catalonia.
