Palazzo delle Poste e Telegrafi

In 1930 was decided to build in Grosseto the Post Office, designed by the architect Angiolo Mazzoni. Already in 1929 Mazzoni had studied the urban planning of the city. The area where to build a new post office building was identified in the circular plaza then entitled to Umberto I, located outside the New Gate to the north of the historic city and decorated by an obelisk of the war memorial (erected in 1896), in which flowed the main national road, the Via Aurelia, and around which were recently constructed the government building and a school.
